Introduction

Choosing fonts? Sounds simple! Just have a look through the standard fonts and pick one you like the look of, right?

Not quite.

The fonts you choose can completely change how people see your brand, website, or marketing materials. Typography isn’t just about making text look good. It’s about creating the right first impression, guiding your audience through your content, and making sure your message is easy to read.

Whether you’re designing a website, creating social media graphics, or putting together a brochure, choosing fonts that work well together is an important part of the design process. A good font pairing creates visual hierarchy, reinforces your brand personality, and helps your content stand out for all the right reasons.

In this guide, we’ll explain what font pairing is, why typography plays such an important role in design, and share practical tips to help you choose font combinations that not only look great but also improve the overall user experience.

Why Does Typography Matter?

First impressions count. Whether someone is looking at your website, a business card, a social media post or a brochure, your typography is one of the first things they’ll notice.

The fonts you choose do more than make your content look attractive. They make text easier to read, and ensure it’s accessible to as many people as possible. Typography plays a big role in the overall user experience, guiding readers through your content and creating a visual hierarchy that makes information easy to scan.

Further still, the fonts you choose help to communicate your brand’s personality, evoking emotions in your readers and strengthening your relationship with them. Some are associated with formality and authority, others with fun and excitement, anger, tranquility – the list is endless. Selecting fonts that accurately represent your organisation and how you hope customers will perceive you is a powerful extension of your brand.

What is Font Pairing?

According to Canva, font pairing is the process of combining fonts that complement each other to create a balanced, visually appealing design.

Effective font pairing helps establish hierarchy, improves readability, and supports the overall message or brand identity. Getting it right makes a design feel modern, inviting and professional, while the wrong combination leaves it looking cluttered, confusing, inconsistent and difficult to read.

Principles of Good Font Pairing

There are several principles or rules around font pairing:

Create contrast – Pair fonts that are different enough to be distinguishable, such as a serif heading with a sans-serif body text. Contrast helps create visual interest and hierarchy.
Maintain harmony – While fonts should contrast, they should also complement each other. Fonts with similar proportions, mood, or style tend to work best together.
Establish hierarchy – Use different fonts, sizes, or weights to guide the reader’s attention. For example, use a bold display font for headings and a simpler alternative for body text.
Prioritise readability – Choose fonts that are easy to read, especially for body text. Decorative fonts should be used sparingly and mainly for titles or accents.
Limit the number of fonts – Most designs work best with two or three fonts. Using too many typefaces can make a design look cluttered and inconsistent.
Match the purpose and tone – Select fonts that reflect the message or brand personality. For example, a formal report may use classic serif fonts, while a modern brand may favour clean sans-serif fonts.

Real-world Application

With so much riding on your choice of font, how do you make the right decision for your organisation?

When getting started, it’s helpful to understand the basics of common fonts and font pairings already in circulation. For instance, serif fonts often feel traditional and trustworthy, while sans-serif fonts are associated with simplicity and clarity. To convey elegance and creativity, script fonts may be more appropriate, while bold and expressive brands should consider display fonts.

A popular font pairing is serif + sans-serif. This combination provides a clear hierarchy, with a good balance of visual contrast and cohesion.

A similar effect is achieved by different weights within the same font family, or combining a display font with a neutral body font. The former is often used to manage hierarchy between key information and body text, while the latter can be perfect for landing pages and artistic editorial pages. For more technical content that features code or data, logs or raw numbers, monospaced fonts – which maintain uniform horizontal spacing – may be more effective.

Font Pairings That Work

There are many examples of effective font pairings and here are some common combinations…

Serif + sans-serif combos:

Libre Baskerville + League Spartan
Playfair Display + Source Sans Pro
Merriweather + Montserrat
Lora + Open Sans
Roboto + Bebas Neue

Different weights in same font family:

Montserrat
Inter
Roboto
Playfair Display / Black

Display + neutral body combos:

Koulen + Kapakana
Julius Sans One + Archivo Narrow
Oswald + Open Sans

Monospace fonts:

Courier
Space Mono
GT Pressura Mono

Rules of font pairing

Rule 1: Contrast is King (Combining Serif and Sans-Serif)
Rule 2: Establish a Clear Hierarchy (Heading vs. Body)
Rule 3: Limit Your Palette (Stick to 2–3 Fonts)
Rule 4: Avoid Font Conflict (Don’t use two fonts that look *almost* identical)
Rule 5: Start with an anchor font – build your others around this for cohesion
Rule 6: Avoid decorative fonts for body text

Conclusion

In summary, typography does much more than just look nice. An effective font pairing is a powerful tool in elevating the user experience, connecting with your audience and strengthening your brand. It is the bedrock of good communication and should be considered carefully. Use the fundamental principles as a guide to experiment, be unique and find your fonts.

Social Media Updates April 2026

April Social Media Updates

Here are the updates that social media platforms such as; Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram have introduced or teased in April 2026:

You Can Now Edit Comments On Instagram
Conversational AI Search on LinkedIn
Opt-In Camera Roll Scanning For Facebook
Instagram Expands Reach for Notes
New Video Playback Control On LinkedIn

1: Instagram Now Allows You To Edit Comments

Instagram has finally answered one of its most frequent user requests by introducing the ability to edit comments. This update addresses a long-standing frustration for users who, until now, had to delete and retype an entire response just to fix a simple typo.

The new edit feature is located directly beneath published comments in-stream. By tapping the ‘Edit’ option, a pop-up appears that allows you to revise your text. However, there are a few conditions to keep in mind: you can edit a comment as many times as you like, but only within the first 15 minutes of posting.

2: LinkedIn Update: Conversational AI Search for Everyone

LinkedIn has officially expanded its AI-powered conversational search to all users, moving beyond its initial Premium-only launch. The update shifts the search bar from a rigid keyword tool into a more intuitive, “human” assistant.

The Key Enhancements:

Natural Language Queries: You can now describe what you’re looking for in plain English. The AI understands the context of your prompt rather than just matching exact words.
Forgiving Discovery: The search engine now accounts for nicknames and common misspellings, ensuring you don’t miss a connection due to a typo.
Smart Summaries: For U.S. users, LinkedIn is rolling out AI-generated profile summaries in search results, explaining exactly why a specific person is a relevant match for your query.
Increased Credibility: Verification badges will now appear directly in search listings to help you identify credible sources and experts instantly.

This move aligns with the broader trend of “conversational discovery,” making it easier than ever to find specific talent, leads, or industry insights without needing to master complex search filters.

Facebook’s New Opt-In Camera Roll Scanning

Facebook is testing a new opt-in feature in the UK that turns your forgotten photos into postable content. By allowing Meta to scan your device’s camera roll, the app will automatically suggest collages, recaps, and creative edits for your Feed and Stories.

Automated Curation: The AI filters through screenshots and “clutter” to find standout memories, such as trips or events.
Ready-to-Post: You’ll receive private notifications with pre-made videos and layouts to review before sharing.
Privacy & Data: While it offers convenience, opting in allows Meta to analyse metadata (location, dates, and people) to train its discovery systems.

This move is a clear attempt to revive personal sharing on the platform, which has been steadily declining as users shift toward more passive content consumption.

Source – HERE

4: Instagram Expands Reach for Notes

Instagram is testing a significant change to its “Notes” feature, allowing users to share these short, 60-character status updates with all followers rather than just mutual connections.

The Key Changes:

Wider Visibility: Previously limited to “Close Friends” or mutual followers, Notes can now act as a lightweight broadcast tool for your entire audience.
Creator Benefits: This shift gives creators a non-intrusive way to share quick updates, promote new content, or spark discussions without the commitment of a full Story or a ping from a Broadcast Channel.
Inbox Engagement: While Instagram briefly experimented with placing Notes on Reels and Feed posts, they have reverted to keeping them exclusively at the top of the DM inbox to encourage direct conversation.

5: LinkedIn Update: New Video Playback Controls

As video consumption on the platform continues to soar, with watch time up 36% year-over-year, LinkedIn has quietly introduced playback speed controls for all in-stream videos.

Customisable Speed: Users can now select playback speeds ranging from 0.5x to 2x. Simply click the ‘1x’ icon in the bottom right corner of any video to adjust.
Efficiency for Professionals: Previously available only on LinkedIn Learning, this feature lets users breeze through longer industry insights or slow down technical tutorials to catch every detail.
Higher Engagement: LinkedIn reports that video content generates 1.4x more engagement than other formats. These controls make longer-form clips more digestible, encouraging users to spend more time on the platform.

This update follows LinkedIn’s recent push toward a full-screen, scrollable video feed. For creators and brands, this means greater flexibility to experiment with longer content, knowing that viewers now have the tools to consume it at their own pace.

Marketing’s Role in Driving Business Growth

Marketing is at the heart of business expansion. While most businesses across the UK and beyond seek growth, that growth looks different for everyone and rarely fits a one-size-fits-all approach. At We Do Marketing, we believe growth is a bespoke destination, defined entirely by your specific business goals.

True growth is never accidental. It is the direct result of a marketing strategy that is linked back to wider business goals. When these two elements align, marketing moves from being a cost to a high-performance investment.

In this article, we explore the role marketing plays in scaling a business. We will look at how to define what growth looks like for your specific business, the power of aligning your tactics with your long-term goals, and how to use data-driven insights as a result of marketing to drive the informed decision-making that fuels long-term success.

Establish what business growth looks like to you.

To build a strategy that actually delivers, we must first define exactly what success looks like for you. Without a clear destination, even the most creative marketing may not get you the results you are looking for.

For some, growth is purely financial. For others, it’s about visibility, infrastructure, and legacy. Some examples of business growth goals include:

Brand Awareness: This is more than just visibility. It is about building brand trust, recognition, and reputation. Brand awareness ensures that when your audience has a problem, your brand is the first solution they think of.
Profit: For many, the most vital sign of growth is a healthier bottom line. Marketing’s role in achieving this is to help your business to focus on high-intent lead generation and conversion.
Expanding the team: Expanding your team is one of the most significant steps in the growth journey. When your marketing is working, it provides the clarity and capital needed to scale your internal expertise and stay ahead of market demand.
Scaling and capital investments: Perhaps growth for you means moving into a larger space or purchasing the latest equipment to improve your service delivery. Marketing provides the consistent, predictable pipeline of work required to make these big-ticket capital investments with total confidence.

How to use data-driven insights to fuel long-term success.

Marketing generates and provides data-driven insights that help to fuel business decision-making. By tracking how real people interact with your brand, you transform information into valuable data. This ensures that every business decision is backed by facts. From where to invest your budget to who your target audience is and how to develop your next product, marketing insights can provide valuable data, significantly reduce risk, and improve your return on investment.

Insights that you can gain from marketing:

Customer journey insights
Customer profiling
Competitor benchmarking
Analysing ad spend
Predicting future trends
Measuring ROI

Conclusion

Marketing is more than just a promotional tool. It is the engine powering every stage of your business’s evolution. By moving away from a one-size-fits-all approach and aligning your strategy with your specific business goals, whether that be brand awareness, increased profit, or scaling your operations, you can transform your business into a data-backed, high-performance machine.

At We Do Marketing, we don’t just do your marketing. We partner with you to look at The Bigger Picture. We integrate into your business, taking the time to unpack your goals and rebuild a strategy that is long-term and focused on your unique goal of business growth and success.

Social Media Updates March 2026

March Social Media Updates

Here are the updates that social media platforms have introduced or teased in March 2026:

TikTok Shop: Top 3 Global Retailer?
Instagram’s New Thumbnail Editing
New Tools in the “Edits” App
Social Media Engagement Across The Board
LinkedIn: Top Growing Skills In Marketing

1: TikTok Shop Is Projected To Become A Top 3 Global Retailer

Social commerce isn’t just a trend; it’s becoming the global standard. A new report from the agency Flywheel projects, has revealed that ByteDance (TikTok’s parent company) is on track to become a top-three global retailer by 2030.

TikTok Shop is estimated to capture 14.6% of the global marketplace share, driving roughly $1 trillion in sales. From high-street heritage brands like M&S to food giants like Itsu, these more traditional stores are officially embracing the digital transition. Have you got a TikTok strategy in place? If not, we strongly recommend looking into this for your overall 2026 strategy.

2: Instagram’s New Thumbnail Editing: Perfecting Your Grid

Instagram has just solved one of the most frustrating aesthetic issues for Instagram users: the unesthetic grid crop. Users can now manually edit thumbnail images of their content directly on their grid.

Instead of being stuck with whatever auto-centred crop Instagram chooses, you can now reposition and zoom your thumbnails to ensure your profile looks exactly how you intended.
As Instagram shifts further toward a 3:4 vertical grid, many older square or landscape posts look a little off. To try it, just tap the three dots on any post and select Adjust Preview. It’s a small tweak that makes a massive difference for brand first impressions.

3: New Tools in the “Edits” App

Instagram is continuing its aggressive push to rival standalone editors like CapCut with a range of new creative updates to its Edits app. This month, the focus is on three key areas:

Customisable Overlays: You can now apply fun, dynamic effects like Outer Glow and Pulse to your overlays. With full control over colour, opacity, and size, it’s much easier to make your brand assets pop without needing a separate motion graphics tool.
The “Ideas” Hub: Instagram has updated the Ideas tab (found in the Edits section) to act as a centralised storyboard. It now houses all your saved audio, reels, and ‘stickies’ in one space.
Dynamic Captions: You can now manually highlight specific words in your auto-captions. By choosing custom colours to emphasise key phrases, you can guide the viewer’s eye and ensure your message lands even on mute.

Instagram wants to keep you within its ecosystem throughout the creative process.

4: The Shift In Engagement Across The Board

It’s no secret that organic reach feels like a moving target. With a huge push across all platfroms for more video content, people are moving away from ‘liking and commenting’ as their main way to engage. Instagram specifically sees its users most active in the ‘Direct Messaging’ section of the app, where users send posts directly to friends rather than tagging them in the post itself. Even though engagement is changing, there is still something you can do to help increase yours.

According to recent data from Buffer, the single biggest driver of growth right now is active community management. Brands that reply to those who do still comment see a massive spike in average engagement across the board:

Threads: +42%
LinkedIn: +30%
Instagram: +21%
Facebook: +9%

While the algorithm changes play a role, relevance remains key. Interestingly, the format you choose also affects the outcome. Instagram, Reels get 36% more reach, but Carousels earn 12% more engagement. On LinkedIn, Carousels are the clear winner, with 3x the engagement of standard video or image updates.

5: LinkedIn Has Revealed The Top Growing Skills In Marketing

LinkedIn has released its Skills on the Rise 2026 report, which highlights exactly where the marketing industry is moving. These aren’t just buzzwords; the growth in these specific areas shows us exactly where the market is shifting and, more importantly, where you should be focusing your marketing efforts.

Performance Analysis: The shift toward data-driven decisions is undeniable. If you aren’t measuring what works, you can’t scale.
AI Literacy: AI is no longer a future tech; it’s a current tool for segmentation and forecasting that is quickly becoming the industry standard.
Social Media Branding: As platforms become more crowded, a distinct, loyal brand presence is the only way to cut through the noise.
Client Prospecting: The bridge between marketing and sales is closing. Effective prospecting is now a core part of a holistic digital strategy.
Visual Storytelling: In a scroll-first world, the ability to tell a narrative through video and imagery is your strongest tool for building emotional connection.

This list is a roadmap for your 2026 strategy. The surge in popularity of these skills suggests that the generalist approach is being replaced by a need for high-tech, high-emotion marketing to future-proof your brand.

How To Use Marketing To Leverage Your Sustainability Message

Introduction

Sustainability is no longer just a “nice-to-have” in business, it is a core expectation. Today’s consumers actively research a company’s environmental impact, and a lack of transparency can immediately turn potential customers away.

For those businesses that are not transparent with their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) policy and actions, then it’s time to tell your story. According to a joint study by McKinsey and NielsenIQ, it was found that over the past five years, products making ESG-related claims accounted for 56 percent of all growth.

For businesses that do have a clear ESG policy and message to share, the true challenge lies in effectively communicating that.

This article will explore how to strategically leverage your sustainability efforts through transparent, impactful marketing to build deeper trust, foster brand loyalty, and drive meaningful growth.

So you have an ESG policy, what next?

The first thing to consider is what assets do you have to showcase that you are environmentally conscious and working with a defined ESG policy in mind. These sustainability assets can come in many forms. Some of these include:

Reporting/Analyses – Share regular reports, updates and metrics on how you are progressing with your sustainability actions.
Research – Conduct and share regular industry research as well as analyse other available research to stay up to date with ESG updates in your industry.
3rd Party Validation – There are many 3rd parties that you can receive accreditation and validation from that help to demonstrate your ESG commitments. Some examples of these are B Corp or ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System).
Recognised Framework – Does your policy align with recognised frameworks such as Net Zero 2050 or the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard? If so, this is another way to showcase that you are environmentally conscious.

Once you have key messages and assets that verify your sustainability claims such as a quarterly report or B Corp accreditation, you will need to determine where is the best place to share this information. Here are some ideas:

Website – You can create a dedicated section on your website which shares your sustainability goals, research, reports and verifications.
Emails – You can include a section in your monthly email newsletter on your sustainability news and updates or if you do not have a regular newsletter, simply include 3rd party verification logos to your employee email footers.
Social Media – It is important to consider which platforms would be best suited to share your key sustainability messages. Where are the decision makers? Are they on Instagram, LinkedIn, X?
Packaging – If you have a physical product, display your accreditations or key sustainability messages on your packaging. For example you can include the B Corp logo or the Cruelty Free logo right there on your packaging.

Be Honest & Authentic

Sustainability is a journey, and telling your story authentically is just as important as the actions you take. The key thing to remember when sharing your sustainability messages is that you are transparent, authentic and honest.

Avoid exaggerating sustainability claims or setting unrealistic sustainability targets that your business cannot reach, instead, focus on showcasing genuine progress to build lasting trust with your audience.

Conclusion

Leveraging your sustainability message is no longer just about doing good, it is about communicating that good work effectively to build a future-proof brand. By utilising your assets such as reports or accreditations, and sharing them transparently across the right channels, you turn genuine environmental actions into a powerful competitive advantage.

Remember, authenticity is key. Focus on honest progress rather than exaggeration to foster deep trust and loyalty with your customers.

Don’t let your efforts go unnoticed. Ready to use marketing to leverage your sustainability message?

Get in touch with We Do Marketing today to discover how we can strategically showcase your green initiatives. We’ll help you craft a compelling narrative that resonates with conscious consumers, drives engagement, and delivers measurable impact.

Social Media Updates February 2026

February has delivered a series of defining moments for the digital landscape. From Meta testing paid barriers for organic link posts, to Instagram preparing for a new era of AI-generated “authenticity” and LinkedIn rewriting the rules of AI search discovery, here’s a complete breakdown of the most important social media updates in February, and what they mean for brands, creators, and marketers.

1: Instagram Update – Adam Mosseri has outlined his challenges with AI content for 2026

Instagram head Adam Mosseri warned that as AI-generated content becomes indistinguishable from reality, the platform is facing a major shift in authenticity. With users moving personal updates to DMs and creators leaning into “raw” content to prove they aren’t bots, Mosseri predicts that even this unpolished aesthetic will soon be masterfully replicated by AI. To fight the upcoming wave of “perfect fakes,” Instagram is pivoting its focus from labels to verification. Expect to see the platform prioritise “originality” signals and provide more transparency about the real people behind each account, ensuring that human-led brands remain the heartbeat of the feed.

Source: HERE

2: LinkedIn Update – Maximising Your Visibility in AI Search

Recently, LinkedIn has been announced as one of the most cited sources for AI chatbots. LinkedIn’s success offers a blueprint for structuring our content to ensure it’s picked up and credited by AI tools.

To win the AI discovery game, structure is everything. LinkedIn suggests moving away from clever formatting in favour of logical, clear HTML hierarchies (H2s and H3s) that AI can easily read. Beyond the tech, the Human signals still matter most; LLMs are prioritising conversational, insight-driven content authored by real, time-stamped experts. By focusing on credibility and answer-first formatting, you’re not just writing for your followers, you’re training the AI to see you as the go-to authority in your niche.

Source: HERE

3: Meta Could Start Charging Your Business Page To Post Links

Meta is currently testing a new restriction that could limit business pages to just 2 organic link posts per month, unless you pay for a Verified subscription.

Meta’s own Widely Viewed Content Report consistently shows that link-heavy posts have the lowest reach, but this move goes a step further by actively gating them from being shared. If you’re not ready to pay for verification, you’ll need to start sharing your links in the comments or pivot to high-engagement formats like Reels and Carousels that keep users on the platform.

Source: HERE

4: Instagram Edits Gets More Creative Updates

Instagram is rolling out a suite of creative updates designed to make the Reels editing process feel a lot easier. The main feature is the ability to copy and paste fonts and clips between different projects, a massive win for anyone looking to maintain brand consistency across their content without starting from scratch every time.

By introducing a new drop-down menu (accessible via the project name) for guides, frames, and snapping, Instagram is moving away from fiddly on-screen editing and toward a more professional UI. Plus, a new Visual Clips + Sound Effects toggle gives you fine control over your timeline, letting you decide if changes to your main track should automatically sync with your overlays. It’s a clear push to keep creators editing inside the app rather than jumping over to other apps, such as CapCut.

5: Meta’s tips on how to drive success with reels

Meta has released new research identifying the specific creative habits that help brands land in the top 20% of performers. In an era of “AI slop,” these findings prove that storytelling is the only way to cut through the noise and drive actual purchase intent.

According to Meta’s data, here are the five creative levers that actually move the needle:

Hook Them Fast: Showing your brand and main message within the first 5 seconds makes you 1.7x more likely to drive high purchase intent.
Dynamic Branding: Featuring your brand in multiple scenes or positions boosts your chances of top-tier performance by 1.8x.
The Audio Power-Up: Silence isn’t golden. Using both speech and music together doubles (2.0x) your likelihood of driving brand interest compared to music-only clips.
Say it Out Loud: Don’t rely solely on visuals. Delivering your message through both audio and visual cues (think subtitles + voiceover) makes you 1.8x more likely to boost interest.
Keep it Real: Using relatable scenes of people in everyday activities increases purchase intent by 1.5x.

Social Media Updates January 2026

January has already brought a wave of important changes across social platforms. From Instagram changing how hashtags work, to TikTok doubling down on local discovery and Facebook introducing group nicknames, here’s a complete breakdown of the most important social media updates in January, and what they mean for brands, creators, and marketers.

1: Facebook Update: Nicknames for Group Participation

Facebook is introducing a more flexible way to engage in Groups, allowing users to participate using a nickname. This feature is designed to give members more control over their privacy while maintaining an active presence in their favourite communities.

If the feature is enabled by group admins, you can now customise a nickname to post, comment, and react within the group.

Privacy First: Using a nickname hides your main profile name and photo from the general group membership.

Admin Transparency: While other members see your nickname, your real identity remains visible to group admins, moderators, and Facebook’s internal systems to ensure safety and accountability.

Getting Started: Facebook may suggest a nickname if you haven’t used one before, but you’re free to update it to something that fits your personality, provided it hasn’t already been taken by another member.

Source: HERE

2: Instagram Update: Hashtags are Now Capped at 5

The era of the “hashtag” is officially coming to an end. Instagram has announced a new universal limit on hashtag use, restricting users to just five tags per post. This move follows a year of testing and reflects a broader shift in how content is discovered on the platform.

Instagram has been vocal about the fact that hashtags aren’t the discovery powerhouse they used to be. Instead, the platform’s sophisticated AI algorithms now do the heavy lifting, categorising content and serving it to relevant users based on their specific interests.

With only five slots available, choosing highly specific, relevant keywords is more important than ever.

Source: HERE

3: Instagram Update: Using AI Summaries For Google Search

This week, 404 Media published a report that explained how Instagram is using AI-generated summaries of posts in order to increase its ranking in Google Search. A recent report from 404 Media has highlighted an interesting move from Instagram. The platform now uses AI to automatically generate summaries and headlines for posts, boosting their ranking in Google Search.

These AI-crafted summaries aren’t visible within the Instagram app; they are embedded in the code specifically for search engines to crawl.

Because the goal is to rank on Google, the AI often “rebrands” casual posts with sensationalist or generic titles (e.g., turning a simple pet video into a “Must-See Guide”).

While this helps with discoverability, it can sometimes strip your content of its original intent or voice, leading to “AI slop” in search snippets.

Source: HERE

4: TikTok Update: ‘Nearby Feed’ Feature Added to Champion Local Discovery

Recently, TikTok announced the Nearby Feed to help their community discover and connect with the world around them. Whether you’re looking for a new restaurant close to home, or a new place to explore during your next trip, the Nearby Feed makes it easy to discover and connect with local content, creators, and businesses wherever you are.

TikTok is taking a major step into the world of local search with the official rollout of its Nearby Feed. Designed to help users connect with the world right outside their front door, this new tab is set to become a go-to tool for discovering hidden gems, local creators, and trending spots in real-time.

The feed sits right on your home screen, and the tab name actually changes to reflect your current city or region (e.g., “Nearby London” or “Nearby Manchester”).

For local brands, this is a massive organic opportunity. If you tag your location or service, your content is now much more likely to appear in front of potential customers who are physically nearby.

NPS Meaning: What is a Net Promoter Score?

The Net Promoter Score (NPS) is a vital business metric used to measure customer loyalty, satisfaction, and the likelihood of customers recommending your business to others. Calculated by asking a single question (“How likely are you to recommend us?”), NPS categorizes respondents into Promoters, Passives, and Detractors. Tracking this score allows businesses to identify growth opportunities, resolve customer issues, and refine their marketing strategies using data-driven insights.

Is it possible to monitor customer loyalty and satisfaction? ABSOLUTELY!

And you should be monitoring it too. It’s not enough to ASSUME that your customers are happy. Knowing that your customers are satisfied, loyal, and would recommend your products or services to others is a key indicator that businesses are performing well and can also highlight opportunities for growth and expansion.

Your customer loyalty and satisfaction can be measured and monitored using a common business metric known as the Net Promoter Score (NPS).

In this article, we will share the importance of NPS, how to calculate it, and what you can do with the information you gain to enhance your business.

Let’s dive in.

What is the Net Promoter Score (NPS)?

Firstly, how does it work?

It is very simple. It is only one question that you put to your customers and record their answers.

“How likely are you to recommend us (0-10)?”

The number that they choose will determine which of these three categories they fall into:

1. Promoters (9-10)

Loyal, Enthusiastic, Advocates

They are deemed more likely to exhibit behaviours that generate value, such as buying more, returning to the brand over a long period and referring more people.

2. Passives (7-8)

Satisfied but unengaged

They are considered to be moderately satisfied. They might remain loyal to the brand, but also have the potential to switch allegiance to a competitor if the conditions are right.

3. Detractors (0-6)

Unhappy customers, Negativity

They are (usually) actively dissatisfied customers who have the potential to damage your brand reputation through negative reviews.

Calculating the Net Promoter Score

The Net Promoter score is calculated by:

NPS = % of promoters – % of detractors

It provides a single score between -100 and +100

For example

From 100 customers:

60 promotors (60%)
25 passives (25%)
15 detractors (15%)

NPS = 60% – 15% = +45%

Anything + is considered positive:

0-30 is good
30-70 isgreat
50+ is excellent
75+ is exceptional

So why is it essential for a business to measure and monitor its NPS?

Calculating your NPS is just the first step. It is what you do with the information after that is most important. Use it as an ongoing benchmark.

Your NPS is a great way to help you:

Understand your customers
Gather data
Better data segmentation
Identify trends
Explore opportunities
Identify any potential issues
Quick problem-solving
Overall, strengthen your business.

The data gathered from the Net Promoter Score (NPS) serves as a powerful, multi-faceted support for marketing efforts, providing invaluable insights that significantly enhance strategy across the board.

NPS feedback helps guide the overall marketing strategy by identifying key drivers of satisfaction and dissatisfaction. At the same time, high scores and positive comments can provide social proof, which can be leveraged in testimonials to build instant trust and credibility.

Beyond guiding campaigns and messaging, NPS enables detailed customer segmentation and personalisation, allowing marketing teams to create highly targeted campaigns, such as referral programs for Promoters and service recovery messaging for Detractors.

5 Social Media Updates for November 2025

1: Meta ad-free monthly subscriptions to launch in the UK

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, is introducing paid subscriptions for UK users who prefer not to see adverts or sponsored social media updates.

The company said it will begin notifying users in the coming weeks, giving them the option to subscribe if they want to use its platforms without ads.

While users in the EU can already pay from €5.99 (£5) per month to remove ads, UK subscriptions will start at £2.99 per month.

2: Competitor analysis will be limited going forward, for non-paying LinkedIn company pages

Competitor Analytics provides deeper insight into how your company page is performing within the app, offering data on follower growth, recent post performance, engagement rates, and even how competitor company pages handle their social media updates.

You can also identify trending content from competitors, helping you stay aligned with shifts in engagement.

It’s a useful tool, but it’s about to become accessible only to paying members. Until now, Competitor Analytics has been free to use, but soon, non-paying LinkedIn company pages will only be able to compare their performance with a single competitor.

3: Instagram users with professional accounts now have access to competitor insights

Instagram has introduced a new competitive insights feature within its professional dashboard, giving you an additional way to contextualise and measure your account’s performance.

You can select up to 10 accounts to compare against, with side-by-side data on follower growth, posting frequency across Reels, feed posts, ads, and other social media updates.

4: Assistive AI for visual creation is coming to Instagram

More generative AI images and videos are on the way, and Meta is aiming to support this shift with updates to its “Restyle” feature, making it easier to edit, reimagine, or completely transform your content, including your social media updates, within the app.

As shown in this example sequence, Instagram’s updated Restyle options now let you edit your images more intuitively using conversational prompts in-stream.
As explained by Instagram:

“Whether you want to simply remove an unwanted detail from your story, include a playful element, change the vibe using a whimsical effect, or start a trend with your friends with Add Yours stickers, now you can. Restyle your photos and videos in Instagram Stories to make edits, big or small using Meta AI.”

5: Bluesky reaches 40 million social media users

Bluesky says the app has now reached 40 million users, up from the 38 million reported in August.

The platform is still connecting with a segment of users, even though it no longer feels like a frontrunner in the race to replace Twitter. Early on, its similarity to Twitter made it look like the most natural alternative, but since then, Threads has used its Instagram link to accelerate to 400 million monthly active users, while X has remained relatively steady based on its reported figures.

With that in mind, it’s worth asking: is your target audience on Bluesky?
