1. Linkedin Shares Recent Updates On Video Within Their Platform
Linkedin is putting even more emphasis on using video content on its platform. Recent data has shown a 36% increase in video uploads as a result of this emphasis. Desktop users now see vertically oriented video recommendations, stressing the importance of creating content in this format to maximise visibility. Aligning with current trends, LinkedIn is experimenting with a new video design that closely mirrors the familiar reel experience of Instagram and TikTok, signalling a clear shift towards short-form, engaging video content.

2. Instagram Is Releasing A New Edits App
Meta is set to launch a new, mobile-exclusive video editing tool called ‘Edits’ on the 30th of April, offering many features designed to help empower creators. The free app includes a trending audio library and an inspiration section to spark creativity. Collaborative features allow users to share drafts with team members, streamlining the review process and making it a great tool for agencies. Users can access performance insights once you have published content as a reel. The app also includes tools to enhance video quality and integrates AI, enabling users to transform static images into engaging, dynamic AI-generated videos.

3. Instagram Is Now Allowing You To Add Text Covers On Your Reels
For a while now, Instagram has given us the power to change the cover images on our reels so we can ensure they don’t stick out like a sore thumb on our grid. However, Instagram has recently included an update allowing you to add text directly to your cover image within the app. This is great for saving time when creating these cover photos in different apps to add to your reel. The only downside is there are limited font options, which could be a problem if you want to use your brand’s fonts within the app.

4. LinkedIn is Testing The Option Of A Feed View Which Includes Connections Updates Only
Linkedin is testing a new feed feature to help boost engagement within the platform. The new feed customisation would see tabbed navigation, allowing users to switch between an “All” feed, the current default, and a “My Network” feed. Linkedin explains that this experiment is part of their ongoing effort to give members greater control over their feed content. The “My Network” tab will specifically curate updates exclusively from first-degree connections, followed individuals, and pages, offering a more focused and personalised browsing experience.

5. Instagram’s ‘Helping Creators Break Through’ Reel’s Ranking Is Now In Full Swing
Instagram Reels now uses a dynamic distribution system that pushes your content beyond your current following. When a reel is posted, it’s presented to a small, targeted audience of non-followers likely to engage with the content. Based on the performance of these initial showings, the most successful reels are then pushed to larger audiences. This tiered approach places higher priority on engagement over follower count, creating a more equitable environment where compelling content, regardless of the creator’s popularity, has the potential to reach a wider audience.

6. LinkedIn Are Beginning To Roll Out Comment Impression Counts
Linkedin is expanding by introducing comment impression counts, offering users a new metric to measure their impact within the platform. Select users now see impression numbers displayed directly beneath their comments, providing insight into the reach of their comments. As Linkedin clarifies, a comment impression is recorded each time a user views a comment, with multiple views from the same individual, including the comment’s author, contributing to the total count. This feature aims to provide a clearer picture of how many people are being reached through comment activity.
